请问老师：than后面省略的主语是什么，是techniques吗？若是techniques，techniques在主句部分是宾语，但在从句部分又成了主语，如此不是对等成分的比较，可以成立吗？如何理解呢？
比较分句的结构不肯定非得和主句结构相同，虽然常常相同。比如：Thereis more food than you can eat. 主句是there be句型，比较分句是主谓宾句型。
than作为比较代词，替代了主句的比较项中的中心名词techniques，并在从句中作了主语。根据这种理解，比较从句中的主语就是than, 没有省略主语的问题。
另有一种理解（剑桥语法），than为从属连词，不作成分。主句比较项的对应项在比较分句中需要省略，即techniques在从句处于主语的地方，因此需要省略。
以上二种讲解，你感觉哪种更好理解就使用哪种讲解。第一种讲解是我提出的，得到刘老师的认同。是少数派。但优点不少，几乎不会致使从句结构错误。
